MEET TOM

Tom began is law enforcement career while attending Norfolk Junior College now known as Northeast Community College prior to joining the Lincoln Department where he enjoyed a 26-

year career and became the department’s trainer in DWI enforcement, PPCT-pressure point control tactics, verbal judo, and interview and interrogation.

 

He was awarded the Exceptional Duty Award several times and was Officer of the Year in 1994 and Training Officer of the Year in 1995. For 23 years while with LPD he presented substance abuse and peer pressure presentations to students at Pius High School. He was Vice President of the Lincoln Police Union for 7 years before making a career change and becoming Design Data Corporation’s Human Resources and Facilities Manager in October 2000.

 

In 2008, he also took on the role of Software Piracy Investigator and Litigation Coordinator utilizing his investigating skills to resolve copyright infringement and the illegal use of Design Data’s software.

 

During his early years with the company, he completed his Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration and Master of Arts in Management. He began teaching criminal justice program college courses part-time. Tom left Design Data in 2018 but continues to teach at Doane University in their Criminal Justice Program as an adjunct professor teaching nontraditional students. He is also a PT Adjunct for Southeast Community College teaching high school students in The Career Academy. Tom has also taught at Seward High School.

He started his own part-time business in 2019 Duden Private Investigations and is a licensed Private Detective in the State of Nebraska. 

 

Tom lives in southeast Lincoln with his wife Ronda. Together, they enjoy fishing, camping, Husker football, and the joys of grandparenting.
